The Asia-Pacific Institute for Medication Management, Inc. (APIMM) is an organization of dedicated pharmacy experts committed to optimize the safe and proper use of medicines through a changed paradigm of practice and education, efficient management systems and structures, and empowered human resources.
Why we are here The landscape of pharmacy practice is changing. In 2010, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the World Health Organization redefined the roles of pharmacists towards pharmaceutical care practice paradigm. This change in the global landscape challenges pharmaceutical practice in the Philippines to develop from its traditional roles of compounding and dispensing drugs towards patient care and public health concerns. From drug-makers and drug-sellers, pharmacists are now summoned to promote public health and effective health care. Among the broader tasks of pharmacists identified by the FIP and WHO include: (1) patient and medication counseling (2) active participation in the healthcare team (3) public health education (4) participation in health programs and community projects such as Health Planning and Management, Immunization Programs, Substance abuse and Family Planning, (5) Health promotions (6) Participation in outreach and medical and (7) Conduct of Population-based studies and surveys, (8)Involvement in regulatory programs, (9) Conduct of Scientific researches for drug discovery from natural sources and; (10) health policy making. Pharmacy professional and pharmacy-related institutions are at the frontline of these developments. The Asia Pacific Institute for Medication Management is committed to support and work with industry practitioners and institutions to keep up with these developments. |

APIMM envisions a holistic and effective pharmacy practice in the Asia Pacific region that contributes in improving public health and patient-care.
Our mission is to promote and achieve changes in the pharmacy practice in the Asia Pacific region through advancing a holistic paradigm of pharmaceutical practice that is essential to attaining effective health-care. Our goal is to bring pharmacy practice in the Asia Pacific towards more effective medication and healthcare by 1) developing capacity, providing resources and opportunities to pharmacy practitioners and professions, pharmacy-related institutions 2) advancing change in existing structures and policies concerning pharmacy and health-care systems. |
